On the above date, at around 1730hrs, Station 23 along with units from Station 12, Marine 18, and the NCC Dive team were alerted to respond to Route 7 N/B at AAA Blvd for a vehicle into a retention pond with a subject still inside of the vehicle. Ambulance 23, Rescue 23 under the comand of Lieutenant Moorhead, MRU 23 and 23 Marine 2 under the command of FF Elvey, and Fire Chief 23 (Dierolf) all responded. Chief Dierolf arrived and reported 1 vehicle into a pond with 1 subject inside. Rescue and MRU 23 arrived shortly after and began to assist with extricating the subject. Water Technicians from 23 and 12 removed the elderly subject of the van via a ground ladder and a back board to awaiting EMS crews. Station 23 units operated for around an hour before clearing the scene. Fire Chief 23 had the "Newport Command".
