Independence Day Keeps Members Moving- 20 Runs and Squad Runs Fatal Fire

While majority of the public was celebrating the holiday, our members were kept busy throughout the 4th and well into the 5th. Twelve members provided staffing throughout the day on the 4th, and at 1400 hours Squad 23 (Mahoney) departed for a cover to the Lewes Fire Company in Sussex County. At 1800 hours, Station 23 placed the Area 7 Duty Crew inservice, with six members on station from 6PM-6AM.

0446- House Fire 

At 0446 hours, on July 5, Squad 23 (Mahoney) responded as the first due Engine Company to a reported house on fire in the 28000 block of Fisher Road. Upon arrival, crews had fire showing, and the bulk was knocked quickly with two handlines. After a thorough search, a victim was found deceased. The Squad was available from the fire in approximately two hours, and returned to Newport shortly after.
